Independence Policy and Consulting Manager (Multiple Positions), PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, New York, NY. Provide guidance on all areas of the US independence policy (detailed and complex rules that are in place to safeguard auditor independence) and industry regulations as set out by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and International Federation of Accountants (IFAC). Assist partners and engagement teams with completing independence assessments by identifying services, relationships, and fee structures that could raise potential independence issues. Assist in mitigating risk to the firm and ensure the firm is compliant with SEC, AICPA, and IFAC regulations for all new and prospective clients of the firm. Analyze situations requiring independence assessments for potential new audit clients, carve-outs and mergers and acquisitions.
Establish and maintain relationships with internal staff and management. Develop training material specific to client acceptance business issues. Work with leaders on consultations or projects involving multiple lines of service.
40 hrs/week, Mon-Fri, 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Must have a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field, plus 5 years of post-bachelor’s, progressive related work experience; OR a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field, plus 3 years of related work experience.
Must have at least one year of experience with each of the following:
- Conducting research on technical topics including private equity structures and investment companies;
- Working with independence regulations set out by SEC, AICPA, IFAC, and/or GAO Independence rules;
- Analyzing situations requiring Independence assessments for potential new audit clients, carve-outs and mergers and acquisitions; and
- Assessing and identifying services, relationships, and fee structures globally that could impair the organization’s independence.
Travel up to 20% is required.
