This position will be responsible for a broad range of financial & analytical duties, including but not limited to general ledger accounting entries & account reconciliations, sales & cash receipt audits, operating expense, multi-state sales tax and annual audit. This position will play a key role in providing support to store and corporate management with quality accounting information to drive business performance. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and leadership skills with a high level of interpersonal skills and able to work across departments. This position will report to CFO.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Independently perform accounting functions necessary to achieve accurate and timely general ledger month-end close
Compile and analyze financial information to prepare journal entries and accruals; Ability to research, identify and resolve accounting issues
Ensure transactions are recorded, documented, reviewed, and supported in accordance with company policies and controls
Oversee cash/sales audit function including store daily sales receipt audit, Wells Fargo financing, AR aging, chargebacks and bank reconciliation;
Key support to our store locations on POS/transaction issues as well as daily close.
Prepare monthly sales tax filing for multiple states (NY, NJ, PA, and FL etc.)
Reconcile various general ledger and balance sheet accounts monthly for multiple entities including inventory, prepaids, fixed assets, accrued expenses and customer deposits etc.
Perform variance analysis on general ledger accounts and G&A expenses.
Participate in year-end audits and respond to audit requests for support documentation
Participate in special projects and prepare ad-hoc reports as required
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required
Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting; 2 years of supervisory experience
CPA or CPA candidate preferred
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; High level of attention to detail
Must be self-directed and work with minimum supervision
Able to interact with various levels of management with excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrates progression throughout their career, supervisory experience a plus
Effectively prioritize workload; Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
High energy, willingness to work the hours required to hit deadlines
Strong system skills including Microsoft Excel, GL, reporting software and database skills
