Reporting to the VP of Accounting and Reporting, the Senior Director of Financial Operations is accountable for providing management oversight and direction of the organization’s accounting practices including payroll, accounts payable/billing, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and systems’ maintenance and support. The Senior Director of Financial Operations is responsible for ensuring data integrity, best practices and ongoing compliance with internal and external controls and policies within the financial operations across the Association. The position works frequently with internal/external stakeholders, including the Internal Audit Team, Regional Business Office, other Accounting/Finance staff and Operations leadership.

Assists with management of all accounting operations including Payroll, AP/Billing, AR, Fixed Assets, etc. This includes support for month-end and year end close processes,
Ensures quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
Establishes, develops, and tracks key performance indicators and monitor red flags
Develops and documents business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
Assist in the design, development and implementation of operational processes to support financial systems. Includes the creation/revision of formal policies and procedures in both narrative and flowchart form
Expert use of the Association’s data model promoting and deploying a functional self-service reporting environment
Utilizes accounting IT systems to facilitate processes and maintain records
Supports the mission and vision of the YMCA and Finance department as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance with 7 or more years of progressive accounting and financial operations experience and 3 or more years in a leadership role. Professional Certification - Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is highly preferred.

Intermediate to advanced PC/technical skills including Microsoft Office, Visio, and proficiency in query and reporting tools.

Strong verbal, written and presentations skills with the ability to adapt communication and message to audience.
