Supervise firm accountants in the execution of day-to-day functions, monthly closings and account analysis.
Day-to-day accounting functions
Oversee staff accountants in tasks relating to cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets and payroll
Where appropriate, oversee transaction processing services provided by overseas accounting firm(s)
Develop process improvements and best practice documentation in order to improve client service delivery
Monitor and implement software improvements providing efficient processing of client transactions
Prepare non-equity journal entries
Review staff accountant entries and reconciliations
Prepare financial statements
Budgeting and forecasting
Monitor and explain budget vs. actual variances
Submit funding request to funding source where required and track related data
Prepare funding source reports when required
Complete account reconciliations for accounts receivable, prepaid expenses, debt obligations, etc.
New client start-up activities
Implement start-up activities including bank account set-up, chart of account set-up, procedures establishment, etc.
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following, skills and/or abilities: Previous participation in the creation of monthly reporting packages. Exposure in the budgeting and forecasting process. Exposure to and working knowledge of accounting pronouncements (FASB, AICPA, SEC etc.). Working knowledge of accounting packages - general ledger. Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
