The Accounting Manager leads and directs the work of all accounting department staff. The AM maintains and develops the Company financial reporting system to ensure data and end-reporting are accurate and timely. This entails oversight of the monthly close and reconciliation of ledger and bank accounts, and requires the ability to research and analyze large amounts of transactional data and to train others in this task. The AM must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a great degree of latitude, initiative and creativity. A strong knowledge and understanding of GAAP accounting concepts and practices is necessary. This position reports to the Company Financial Controller. Job responsibilities are as follows:
Maintains and develops a computerized financial reporting system to ensure data from various financial and accounting departments is accurate and timely.
Supervises the monthly close of ledger accounts and the delivery of financial reports to management, auditors, regulators and banks.
Supports staff in the research and analysis of business and accounting transactions and the reconciliation of lines of credit and numerous commercial bank accounts.
Supervises the reconciliation of loan-related transactional detail, business line of credit account balances, interest payments, reinsurance transactions, and other financial transactions.
Ensures the timely submission of various banking, federal, and regulatory statistical reports.
Assists the Controller and CFO in the design and implementation of policy and process controls.
Provides ad-hoc reporting and communicates effectively with management on accounting, finance, and business control-related problems, trends, and analyses.
Recruits, trains, supervises and supports the Accounting department staff.
Engages in special projects and complex analysis as deemed necessary by management.
BS in Accounting, Finance, or related field and five (5) plus years of experience in a supervisory role in accounting for a public or mid-sized company. CPA designation or CPA candidate is preferred.
Experience in banking, consumer lending, or financial services is preferred.
A strong proficiency in MS Office products, including Excel and Access is required
MS Dynamics Great Plains is preferred; SQL is a plus
Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to make sound, independent judgments
Ability to establish goals and priorities to meet critical deadlines
Self-motivated and independent worker who takes initiative to complete assigned tasks and projects
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a desire to work with others in a cooperative and constructive manner
