Tax Accountant position within a 50-person professional services firm which provides accounting, tax compliance and planning, legal, trust administration, business management, financial management, treasury, technology services to the enterprises of two wealthy families, including business entities, trusts, individuals and foundations. Reports to the Vice President - Director of Trusts and works with all of the other service teams.
Preparation of quarterly and annual Financial Statements, statements of Trust Income and other custom calculations for trusts.
Prepare tax workpapers (experience with electronic workpapers preferred)
Prepare Federal and state tax returns
Prepare tax projections and quarterly estimates
Assist with outstanding tax issues, such as responding to notices and communicating with tax authorities
Prepare accounting entries and general ledger reconciliations:
Prepare entries for transactions including cash receipts, cash disbursements and investment activity, etc.
Reconcile general ledgers for trusts, as necessary
Support the administration of the trusts
Involvement in special projects, as needed
1-3 years of trust and/or tax experience in a public accounting firm, a bank trust department and/or a family office with an emphasis on tax/accounting for trusts or individuals; Knowledge of investment partnerships a plus
Undergraduate degree in accounting with a CPA (or CPA candidate) preferred
Ability to operate in a highly confidential, fast-paced and complex environment as part of a team, but also independently
Proactive, organized and flexible; able to manage multiple projects and prioritize workload
Strong problem solving skills, analytical capabilities and attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate concepts in a clear and concise manner; active listener
Strong Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access) software skills.
Experience with SharePoint and CCH ProSystem Fx a plus
