This position is responsible for general accounting functions for the Company. Ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial information and the timely reporting of all financial results for the Company. Oversees Accounts Payable/Receivable, Customer Service and some Administrative functions, ensuring that corporate office functions run smoothly and efficiently.
Hands-on management of the financial activities of the business, ensuring compliance with internal procedures and external standards.
Prepares Financial Statements by company segment or on a Consolidated Basis; verifies accuracy, analyzes, and interprets information.
Responsible for all postings and accuracies of General Ledger accounts.
Performs monthly close out and reconciliation. Reconciles subsidiary ledgers to general ledger and cash accounts to bank statements each month. Closes fiscal year.
Manages Fixed Assets, calculates depreciation and posts to General Ledger.
Oversees Accounts Payable. Reviews and signs AP payments, initiates payment templates (checks ACH, Wires) before they are delivered each week.
Monitors Accounts Receivable and assists with collections as needed.
Primary interface with Auditors at Year End and provides all necessary information that is required to finalize all Financial Reporting for fiscal year.
Compliance and Tax
Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local corporate, payroll and other applicable taxes.
Prepares and files sales tax returns monthly as required. Prepares other US and Canada sales and use tax returns quarterly or annually as required.
Makes all estimated tax payments to state, federal and local agencies.
Responsible for filing all 1099 Forms for the Company each year.
Other Roles and Responsibilities
Assists CFO in cost accounting – calculates impact of labor + overhead + packaging costs and their tracking on a monthly basis.
Inventory assistance and coordination monthly. Resolution of variances.
Ensures proper internal controls and compliance with various accounting regulations.
Provides supervision and direction of the following functions: Accounts Payable, Customer Service. This includes preparing performance evaluations, authorizing employee time off, etc.
Assists CFO in setting policy as it relates to various accounting/office functions and procedures.
Prepares company payroll on a bi-weekly basis. Enters payroll data and changes and updates Employee Payroll Files. Makes changes per State and Federal Requirements through our Processing Company. Makes journal entries to integrate payroll information into General Ledger.
Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university in Business or Accounting.
5+ years progressively responsible accounting experience
Experience in public accounting (tax/audit) helpful.
Comprehensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
Knowledge of and prior experience in cost accounting in a manufacturing environment helpful.
Knowledge of internal control concepts.
Working knowledge of accounting systems and applications. Experience with Universal Accounting (UA), MAS 500, Best Fixed Asset System and Crystal Custom reporting helpful.
Experience with internal and external financial reporting.
Ability to interpret and analyze financial information. Ability to collect, analyze, and summarize data and prepare clear and concise reports
Strong computer skills. Expert knowledge of Excel. Strong knowledge of Word, Outlook.
Experience processing company payroll helpful. Experience with ADP payroll software helpful.
Previous successful supervisory experience.
Must be organized and have good attention to detail.
