Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor, Campus Operations, independently manages the campus Insurance and Risk Management program. UCI representative to the system-wide UC Risk Leadership Council. Campus resource for Risk Consulting.
Manages a variety of claims including high profile claims against the University. This function includes working with attorneys, claimants, University departments, and the University's third-party administrator. Oversees insurance and risk management data, provides detailed analysis and reports regarding claims activity, costs and status.
Work closely with various departments like Procurement to assist in reviewing and approving indemnification and insurance provisions.
Leads the UCI Risk Intelligence Committee an ERM workteam. Works with high level administration to set the agenda and direction of this multidisciplinary work group. Encourages the concept of ERM across the campus and provides tools and support for the Compliance Ethics and Risk Council.
Protects the University's financial, physical and human resources from loss, and minimizes losses so the teaching, research and public service mission can be pursued with minimal interruption.
Salary: Commensurate with experience (MSP II)
Total Hours: 8-5, M-F
Must pass a background check, work overtime or odd hours as needed.
Prefer professional certification such as ARM, CSP or similar designation.
Must have a valid CA Driver's License and participate in the DMV Pull Notice Program.
Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and oral/written communication skills.
Excellent public speaking skills.
Advanced knowledge (minimum 7 years combined experience) of insurance and risk management and contracting writing/negotiating experience.
Bachelor's degree with experience in university administration and/or insurance and risk management related fields.
Proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
