Directs and manages the Occupational Safety and Health Program for the Medical University of South Carolina. Responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable Occupational Safety, Environmental and Joint Commission regulations, policies and codes.
15%Develops and maintains a customer focused culture to ensure that OSHP's programs and services are of superior quality and satisfy customer needs.
15%Ensures internal communications among OSHP personnel is clear and effectively sets OSHP expectations for employees. Communicates effectively with senior management, other department administrators and staff of MUSC, MUHA, UMA and other customers.
15%Ensures the Department develops and implements a systematic process to measure effectiveness, productivity, value and efficiency of current processes.
15%Promotes the development and maintenance of a diverse work environment conducive to the well being and growth of all employees allowing creativity, innovation and continual improvement.
20%Promotes good stewardship of resources and a spirit of customer service through effective and efficient use of people, systems and funding.
20%Provides and sets clear directions, expectations and priorities for the Department of Occupational Safety and Health Programs (OSHP) and manages the daily operations. Is responsible for the fair and equitable management of all OSHP employees. Responsible for the effective utilization and control of manpower, supplies and equipment assigned or available for the performance of required duties.
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: A bachelor's degree and four years relevant program experience.
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Bachelor's and Master's degree in Health and Safety field. Ten year's experience in Health and Safety field. Progressive management responsibilities within a higher education institution with an academic healthcare facility. Extensive knowledge of regulations regarding health and safety, and environmental protection. Proven experience with regards to injury prevention and regulatory compliance. CHSP and CSP preferred.
