This position maintains hands-on oversight of the Finance departments’ day-to-day operations and generates timely and accurate financial statements for the Museum. Provides trainings, assessments, and recommendations on policies and procedures to all Museum staff to facilitate a positive partnership with all colleagues of the Museum while maintaining appropriate internal controls and compliance

Oversees the daily, weekly, monthly, and annual processes necessary to ensure timely and accurate distribution of financial statements.
Coordinates and/or directly supervises Finance staff to ensure complete, accurate and timely financial processing every month.
Develops and maintains internal controls that protect the Museum’s financial resources and data that do not impede Museum operations.
Proactively collaborates with others to identify opportunities for process automation and system feature or reporting enhancements.
Performs month-end reconciliations for cash and investment accounts for the DMNS Foundation and communicates monthly position.
Manages, organizes, implements and coordinates all insurance programs and activities for the Museum. Facilitates annual renewal of all lines of insurance, and coordinates with all insurance brokers to receive insurance information for Museum contracts.
Monitors quality control and completeness (including adherence to delegation of authority and signing limits) of contracts presented for routing.
Leads the process of collecting all information for the auditors within the department and in obtaining information from other departments.
Provides Payroll Specialist with payroll processing coverage.
Provides trainings, assessments, and recommendations for procedures to all of Museum staff.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required.
5 years’ progressive experience in general accounting required.
2 years’ experience reconciling activity within an integrated accounting system on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis required.
2 years’ supervisory experience required.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite required.
