This role will report directly to the CFO. Supports system installation and maintenance of the Cost Accounting System. Performs a variety of complex studies to analyze, evaluate and present findings regarding existing and proposed projects and services. Supports strategic planning process and assists in the development and monitoring of multi-year financial plans and service lines. Assists department directors and managers in optimizing the management of departments. Leads and mentors others within the organization regarding financial analysis and planning. Serves as liaison between Finance and Senior Management, Physicians, and departments. Prepares proforma, forecasting, and financial analyses.
Essential Functions and Job Duties
Maintains and updates Cost Accounting system. Ensures that Cost Accounting system is updated so that only the most current information is used.
Provides reports and analysis for Vice Presidents and department managers. Through development of a keen understanding of hospital operations, performs variety of complex studies to analyze, evaluate and present findings regarding existing and proposed programs and services. Documents cost savings and revenue findings. Assists in obtaining, evaluating and presenting data necessary for critical decision making through analysis, service design or market research.
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and is capable of a high degree of independence in the performance of a variety of complicated tasks.
Consults with management to determine unique requirements for information retrieval from systems.
Leads and mentors others in the hospital to assist in the development of knowledge of hospital operations and the department’s contribution toward the success of the hospital. Establishes and maintains a group of key individuals to help facilitate training and software testing.
Maintains cost accounting system to accurately reflect the cost of doing business on both macro and micro basis.
Prepares financial analysis for strategic and operational initiatives.
Works effectively with DMH Decision Support, Operations, Strategy, and Financial team members in the development of business plans.
Works collaboratively and effectively with members of the DMH and DMH Medial Group’s administrative team and other clinical leaders, while performing business plan efforts.
Completes assigned analysis reports in a timely manner.
Possesses excellent analytical skills and high quality presentation skills.
Transfers data into information.
Assists in the budget process.
Bachelor’s degree is required; major in accounting, health care management, business administration or finance preferred. Both health care financial and clinical background highly desirable. Work experience in accounting, decision analysis, and/or finance is required.
A graduate degree in lieu of experience will be considered.
