The Monroe County Clerk of Circuit Court & Comptroller is seeking a full-time Chief Accountant to be an integral team member of the Clerk’s Finance Department. This position is located in Key West, Florida.
The Chief Accountant is responsible for performing the treasury management function for Monroe County and maintaining the accounting records for the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners including managing balance sheet accounts, meeting reporting requirements of external agencies, performing monthly bank reconciliations, preparing year-end financial statement (including the County’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report) and preparing workpapers for the annual financial audit.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of: (1) an undergraduate degree in accounting or equivalent governmental accounting experience (an advanced degree is preferred); (2) ability to maintain effective working relationships with others, including the public and governmental agencies; (3) demonstrated proficiency in using Excel and financial accounting systems; and (4) excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. A CPA with public accounting experience is a preferred.
