We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team! This position is responsible for assigned accounts on the company’s balance sheet. This is a critical role requiring focus, attention to detail and accuracy. The Senior Accountant will be expected to take ownership of projects, independently research and resolve issues, and see tasks through to completion.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the maintenance, reconciliation and/or review of assigned balance sheet accounts.
Responsible for assigned tasks which may include revenue recognition, lease accounting, intangible assets, derivatives, impairment analysis, debt, foreign currency, control documentation and testing, and M&A activities.
Preparation and maintenance of GL records and work papers.
Works with process owners to understand the design of business processes to ensure adequate considerations are understood and implemented in the company’s models.
Provide subject matter expertise and act as an internal consultant on the topics assigned.
Coordinate with external auditors and other outside consultants to ensure timely completion of audit requests.
Develop and produce presentations and reports relevant to management estimate trends, and results.
Responsible for recommending modification to management estimates.
Analyze data, and develop and implement changes related to management estimates as needed.
Participate in and support strategic projects to ensure management estimates are properly considered.
Prepare memos and whitepapers on technical accounting topics regarding topics as assigned.
Able to perform special studies/projects of complex scope, which require independent development of innovative analytical approaches to resolve issues related to financial management and/or automated systems.
Prepare quarter end reporting for Auditors and internal management reporting as requested.
Provide backup for other positions as requested.
Participate in discussion with management to determine proper accounting treatment of unusual transactions.
Advise management of issues requiring their attention.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE,AND SKILLSREQUIRED
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
Minimum of 6 years of general accounting experience or a minimum of 4 years of experience in a Public Accounting firm.
2 years of public accounting experience required.
Strong knowledge of and ability to apply professional accounting principles and concepts (US GAAP)
General understanding of SOX and COSO.
Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Excellent financial analysis skills
Superior agile Excel skills
Experience working with an integrated ERP system. QAD mfg/pro desired.
Comfortable in a rapidly changing environment
Ability to lead or be a significant contributor to cross-functional improvement projects.
Ability to work with, and gain cooperation from, people at all levels of the organization.
