Position Summary: The Accountant, Property Management, based in Chicago or D.C., will serve as the primary point of contact between NAR, our employees, and the property management vendors of our buildings. He /she will also analyze monthly property management reports for each NAR property, review general ledger transaction detail, identify and thoroughly investigate budget-to-actual variances, identify reporting errors and omissions, and provide guidance to the property managers for necessary corrections.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop accurate fiscal year operating and capital budgets for the Chicago and Washington, DC facility programs, including forecasting throughout the year
Develop precise, accurate trend analysis tools that will assist in the development of such budgets
Create financial models that incorporate year-over-year comparisons to generate and maintain 5-year projections for each property
Reconcile NAR internal and externally prepared property manager financial statements; prepare accurate, robust spreadsheets and templates to import property manager financial data into a reportable format
Manages and reviews service contract bids submitted by property managers
Oversee administrative functionalities including but not limited to: functionality of NAR Budget System; Chicago conference room scheduling system; planning the logistics for Real Property Operations Committee (RPOC) meetings; and other duties, as assigned.
Minimum of 3 years property accounting experience
